Molasses Platter Cookies

In a bowl, melt shortening and cool. Add sugar, molasses, and eggs. Blend ingredients.

In another bowl, combine dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture. Mix well. Chill for 2 hours or overnight (preferably).

Roll into large balls (golf ball size). Roll in granulated sugar. Do not flatten! Cookies will flatten as they cook.

Bake 10-12 minutes at 375° on ungreased cookie sheets. Do not overcook!


Ingredients:
  • 1½ c shortening (Crisco)
  • 2 c sugar
  • ½ c dark molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c flour
  • 4 t baking soda
  • 1 t salt
  • 2 t cinnamon
  • ½ t ground cloves
  • 1 t ginger
